General Information

Patients

All patients should bring a photo ID, insurance cards and a current list of medications.

New patients who have printed and completed new patient forms should arrive at least 20 minutes prior to appointment time. If you can’t print the forms to bring with you, we will have them ready when you arrive. Please come 30 minutes early to complete the forms in the waiting room.

Returning/existing patients who have not been to our office within the last 6 months, should print and complete the returning patient forms. Likewise, if you can’t print the forms to bring, come 30 minutes early so that you can complete them before your appointment time.

Surgery

Surgery is usually scheduled while the patient is in the office for the consultation. Our staff is good to work with your schedule to make it easier for you and your family members. Surgery is almost never scheduled to occur the same day as the consultation visit unless it is an emergency.

If it is necessary to cancel your surgery or procedure, YOU MUST GIVE 48 HOURS NOTICE. Failure to notify us regarding cancellation within 48 hours of the date of procedure will result in a $50.00 charge. Insurance companies will not cover this.

Hospitalization

Many surgeries are “outpatient”, which means the patient returns home the same day. If you must stay in the hospital, you will usually be seen by Dr. Dixon twice a day. There may be other doctors involved in your care, such as hospitalists or other specialists. Always feel free to ask questions to learn about your care.

You may owe a co-pay for your office visit (according to your insurance). Be sure to bring that amount to your appointment. It is against insurance regulations for our medical office to not collect your co-pay. According to your type of insurance, you may be asked to pay a deposit on your upcoming surgery prior to the procedure being scheduled. We accept cash, checks, and credit or debit cards.
